JULY
18TH
- JULY 21ST MOVIE STUNT CAMP -
You won't want to miss this camp - it's an action-packed
adventure where thestudents learning how to perform
some stunts, rolls and self defense techniques.
They are also introduced to weapons training with
hands experience at the sword, kali sticks and
nunchaku. The experience is capped off by learning
to play the taiko drums.
If
you've always wanted to try martial arts now is
the time. Taylor Martial Arts is offering two
free weeks of training - earning it is simple.
Color our summer
coloring sheet and bring it in. In exchange
your child can earn two free weeks of karate training
where the emphasis is on stranger danger and bully
prevention techniques. This promotion is open
to new students only. Don't wait - it won't last
long.
MARTIAL
ARTISTS HOST FUNDRAISER FOR JAPAN
WITH 10,000 PUNCHES, FREE FAMILY TRAINING AND
MORE
Taylor
Martial Arts, located in Moreno Valley, is hosting
a free family-fun day on April 16, 2011 with a
focus on raising money for the victims of the
earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The activities
which begin at 10:00 a.m. will last throughout
the day and include a free family safety training
class for all ages, the opportunity to break a
board, 10,000 punch-a-thon and a nunchaku class.
Students
and visitors at the school are encouraged to pick
up their pledge forms for the board breaking and
punch-a-thon to help raise money, which will be
sent to Riverside's sister city, Sendai. All donations
made that day will be given to the City of Riverside
to be sent directly to Japan. The event is free
to the public, however, donations are encouraged.
"Our
goal is to have our community do 10,000 punches
helping them to get stronger while raising money
to help those in need at the same time. We like
that our students care about the global community
and wanted to do something to help those in need.
Our karate tradition comes from Japan so we feel
a close tie to the tragedy there," Shihan
Taylor said.

Christian
Lords, a karate student at Taylor Martial Arts
inMoreno Valley, recently scored a national championship
in kata while competing in the eleven-year-old
black belt division at the Compete Nationals Karate
Championships. The tournament, attended by competitors
from around the country was held in Ontario, California
at the Ontario Convention Center. Christian, a
fifth grader at Towngate Elementary has been studying
karate for over three years at Taylor Martial
Arts.
Shihan
Taylor commented that, "It's Christian's
consistent training and attitude to succeed that
helped him to achieve this title. He trains regularly
and pays attention in class."
"Christian put in a lot of extra time, working
on the small details that helped to set him apart
from the competition," added Sensei Christine
Young. Ms. Young, a former world champion is also
an instructor at Taylor Martial Arts.
CONGRATULATIONS
TO JAYLENE SLACK - THREE TIME WORLD CHAMPION.
Jaylene
took first place in the World Tournament held
this July in Dallas, Texas.
Ms.
Slack won in the intermediate 9-year-old division
capturing first place wins in kata, kumite and
kobudo.
Competitors
from around the world gathered in Dallas to
earn one of the coveted five foot trophies.
Everyone
at TMA is very proud of the hard work and dedication
that Jaylene put in to achieve this goal.
SUMMER
IS ALMOST HERE AND THAT MEANS...more time
outside, running around, riding bikes, on your
skateboards and just hanging out.
Sounds
like a lot of fun, doesn't it? Keep in mind, that
it's also a time to be aware of what's going on
around you. Watch traffic. Be aware. Don't be
focused just on fun - be aware of what's going
on around you and stay safe too.
